Regional Entry Limit

This page contains information regarding our regional competition entry rules. There is not an entry limit at our National Finals competition.  If a studio attends and competes any number of routines at any regional event within 12 months prior to National Finals, they automatically qualify to attend and register an unlimited amount of entries at our National Finals.  To find out more about our National Finals, please visit our National Finals event page.

Every regional event contains both a convention and competition schedule set within the restraints of one weekend.  In order to protect the integrity of our schedule, the health of our dancers, and the overall experience of every attendee, the following entry limit rules apply to our regional competitions only.

Regional Competition Entry Limit Studio registrants are permitted to ‘secure’ up to 20 competition entries during the online registration process.  Within the max number of secured routines, up to 5 routines can be solo, duo or trio entries.  The other secured entries must consist of group, line, production or super production routines.  If you would like to submit an online request for additional entries, you may do so by utilizing the ‘Additional Requested Routine’ option during your online registration process.  We do recommend that studios that have additional entry requests in the group/line/production division call or email Dupree Dance prior to completing their registration.

Dupree Dance will reach out within 1 week after our registration deadline to accept additional entry requests if competition space permits.  More information regarding how additional entry request(s) work can be found in the Additional Entry Requests area of our competition information.

Only 1 solo per registered dancer is permitted at our regional events.  2 solos per dancer are permitted at National Finals.

Dupree Dance reserves the right to limit the amount of solo, duo, or trio entries per studio if the amount of pre-registered entries exceeds the designated time available for the competition in that city.  In this event, Dupree Dance would offer a full refund for numbers that are pulled from the line-up.

Additional Entry Requests

Based on the total amount of pre-secured and pre-registered competition entries received by or before the registration deadline, there is often room for Dupree Dance to accept additional competition entry requests at regional events.  If a studio would like to request additional numbers past the secured limit for their registration, they must enter their secured entries first and then click on the “Add a Additional Requested Routine (pending approval)” option during their online competition registration.  A client will not pay for any routine that they submit as an additional entry request, but they MUST complete the payment for both their convention fees and secured competition entries by/before the registration deadline in order for Dupree to consider accepting additional entry requests.  The information for additional requested routines must be entered by the client during the initial registration process in order for additional entries to be considered for approval.

Within a few days of our registration deadline in each city, we will assess the additional competition space available in that city.  Dupree Dance will reach out to studios that submit extra requests within 1 week after our deadline to let them know whether or not we can take their additional entries.  Our goal is to maximize our competition line-up and say ‘yes’ to as many extra requests as possible without compromising the integrity of our event schedule (we are NOT an event that will opt to hold a 1 AM awards ceremony).

Requests for additional group/line/production/super production routines will be given priority over requests for additional solo/duo/trio entries.  Loyalty Program studios will be first approved when considering the Additional Requested entries for an event, followed by studios that meet or beat the registration deadline for that event (first registered, first served basis).

Once additional routines are accepted, Dupree Dance gives the client the option of paying for the approved additional requests prior to the event, or they may choose to pay their additional routines balance at the event with a cashiers check, money order or credit card.

We assume that anything entered by the client in the ‘secured routine’ area will NOT be pulled from his/her line-up if all or some of the additional requested routines are declined.  If a client has more than 5 solos, duos and trios and a personal ‘all or nothing’ acceptance policy on those routines, we do ask that he/she utilize the ‘Additional Requested Routine (pending approval)’ option during the online registration process when entering ALL of their solo, duo, and trio entries.  Please review the example below to help understand how to best approach the online registration process regarding your additional entry requests.

Example:  A client has a total of 26 routines.  14 are group routines and 12 are solo, duo or trio entries.  There can be one of two approaches when entering your solo, duo or trio competition routines during the online registration process.  Please read each scenario below to choose what best fits your needs.

Scenario 1
(Client preference:  “I definitely want to secure 5 of my 12 solo, duo or trio entries despite whether or not the rest can perform.”):

If you plan on leaving your 5 secured solo, duo or trio entries in the line up regardless of Dupree’s ability to approve the additional 7 solo, duo or trio entries, then our system will automatically prompt use of the ‘additional requested routine (pending approval)’ after you enter the first 5 solo, duo or trio entries during the online registration process.  In this case, be sure and enter the 5 solo, duo or trio entries that you plan on securing FIRST, followed by the 7 solo, duo or trio routines that will fall into the additional requested status (pending approval).

Scenario 2 (Client preference:  “I have an 'all or nothing' acceptance policy.  If all 12 solo, duo, trio routines cannot perform, then I prefer to not have any of them perform.”):

If you have an ‘all or nothing’ acceptance policy for your 12 solo, duo or trio routines, you will enter your 14 group routines in the secured competition registration first and then click on the ‘additional requested routine (pending approval)’ option before entering each of your 12 solo, duo or trio entries during the online registration process.  You will not pay us for any of your 12 solo, duo or trio routines until we reach out to you regarding our ability to accept them.  You will only pay for your secured group entries.

Once Dupree Dance approves the additional entries, the registrant has up until the event date to take care of payment for those routines that were accepted.  Fees for additional requested routines that are accepted by Dupree Dance must be payable by credit card, cashier’s check or money order.  A 3% processing fee will apply for credit card payments.  Do NOT mail a payment within one week of our event date.   If a client would like to pay with a cashiers check or money order for his/her Additional Requested Entries, we request that they bring payment to the event.
